My life in reverse: week 3

Bonjour and happy Monday! Monday's are starting to become one of my favorite days of the week particularly because I get to share some awesome moments with you from the previous week. As you can see this blog is evolving a bit and becoming just as much about me as it is about the MME brand, but I've been keeping a secret...and it's a big one a huge one! I promise in just a few weeks I'll be ready to share all of the awesome details that are happening behind the scene at MME, and in the meantime I hope you enjoy learning just a little bit more about me.

Back in the day (meaning during college), I worked as a retail associate for companies like Brooks Brothers, Ann Taylor, and Ann Klein. Looking back that was such an amazing experience and one of the lessons that I took away was that every piece you wear should say something about you and your style.  My style is sophisticated yet youthful and flattering to my shape, but playful enough that it can go from work to cocktails.  I love high heals (you know the super high ones) but I tend to rock a kitten heal and a peep toe as much as possible and I save my high heals for those really special occasions. I don't buy a ton of jewelry, I have what I love and I work with it and it is fabulous!

So here it is, this is what I wore for my 31st birthday dinner with the beau. Simple-Chic-and I will wear the heck out of this tulle skirt!

Shirt: Ann Taylor
Belt: Ann Taylor
Earrings: Ann Taylor

How cute is the back of this shirt? Absolutely love the low back!

Hello Sparkly belt...

Here's a little snap shot of my favorite jewelry, and while I do have a pretty mirrored case for it it's nice to put it in a little something different from time to time.

Happy Birthday to meeeee

Today's my birthday!! I can't believe I'm 30+1 (where did last year go?) today, I've said it before and I'll say it again.....I wish I had never been so scared of turning 30. Don't get me wrong my 20's were great--heck fabulous but my 30's take the cake! So what am I doing in my 30's? Loving fiercely, Living fabulously, and Laughing at life's funny moments.

Off to celebrate my birthday!

My life in reverse-week 2

I loved every single second of last week, and I'm finally starting to feel comfortable picking up my camera and taking pictures.  Last week was filled with yummy food (some of which was even healthy!), lots of camera time, and even a little design time dedicated to our new bedroom.  The biggest news of the week, I finally got rid of my "carry" couch aka my sex and the city couch.  A few years ago when I was entering adult hood...ok more than a few years ago but please humor me, it was my first piece of furniture.  My girlfriends and I would pile on the "carry" couch watching endless episodes of sex and the city, eating pizza, and drinking lots and lots of red wine. It was the best time of my life, but that couch started to see better days and as we got older my "carry" couch seemed more like my ill-fitting college jeans than the beloved couch I used to know.  I no longer blogged on it yelling out carry quotes like "if women were ready, then what are we waiting for"? It was time, and for $50 bucks out it went!

Now let's talk bedroom design!  Now that we are "moving on up" and getting a king sized bed that means an overhaul of new bedding. I absolutely have color commitment, and I need to be able to change things up every couple of months to keep things fresh.  I went with a black & white color palette and a few romantic pieces like mercury glass vases, black frames, gray throw pillows, and even a mirrored jewelry chest.  Here's how I'll put it all together, I'll start with sheets (likely a bright color, perhaps even a purple), euro pillows, standard pillows, a light quilt, a comforter which has been covered by one of these beautiful duvets, and finish with throw pillows.  It's going to be beautiful!

Ok lovelies enjoy a few of my favorite pics/moments from the week!

Let there be cake: Sweet Tales Cake Boutique

Oh hello Friday! It's been an amazing busy week and I was super lucky to start it with the sweet Elizabeth from Sweet Tales Cake Boutique . Elizabeth owns, operates, and is the lead cake designer for an upscale cake boutique and upon entering the boutique you're hit with the warm sugary smell of amazingness! Did I mention that the boutique is gorgeous?! Oh and if you're wondering where these super pretty pics came from, they're from yours truly. It was really my first time picking up my camera and taking a few pictures that could be blog worthy, little did I know Elizabeth had a camera too and like me is just beginning to learn how to use it. Our meeting was only an hour but by the end of the meeting we were both all smiles, whipping out our cameras to take pics, and doing a bit of business brainstorming.

I just had to take a picture of these sugar flowers!!

With each bite she described her process for making each treat and how she could infuse different flavors, but honestly all I could hear was the sweet sound each bite of coconut-rasberry-strawberry made in my mouth. Absolutely delicious!

Let there be cake!

What a fun way to begin my week and end my day. Super huge hug for all the yummy cake Elizabeth, I can't wait to order a cake from you really soon!

My life in reverse: week 1

Last week was busy, bananas! Monday and Tuesday I spent the day around so many great minds in Rhode Island and the rest of the week was so busy I could hardly keep my head on straight. Even with the busy/crazy life I had last week it really was a blast, I have the greatest of friends who make sure that we're living life through experiences and not just reading about them.  I've come to the realization that I'm probably never going to be an every day blogger, but I am going to be an every day doer-believer-dreamer. Living a part of my life away from pins, tweets, likes, and updates doesn't mean that I'm not doing anything awesome, it just means that I'm too busy living in an amazing moment!

So here it is friends, my first post in a new series that you'll see every Monday, my life in reverse. Some of my favorite moments last week, a lot of fabulous outfits, yummy cocktails, and even a painting project I did Saturday afternoon (yay stress reliever!).

January Goals

Oh hello lovelies! I can't believe that the first weeks of the new year are already upon us, I'm going to need time to slow down just a little bit so that I can catch my breath and write up my January goals.

1.) Pick up my camera, take a few pictures and stop worrying about knowing exactly what I'm doing.

2.) Email my photog friends...eventually I'm going to want to know what I'm doing with my camera and I'm dying to add great photos to my blog posts.

3.) Work life/balance. I am a full time entrepreneur with a full time job and I desperately need to say no more so that I can stay sane.

4.) Play in the snow

5.) Take myself to the spa, sip champagne & get all dolled up.

6.) Work on the daily regimen, gym-healthy food-vitamins

7.) Take myself out to dinner

8.) Go to NYC for a weekend

9.) Prep an awesome giveaway in February

10.) Prepare for an amazing life and remind myself that I don't need to document everything to know it exists. Just live. life. out loud.

Now that I've shared my January goals, what are yours? Let's toast to taking the big leap of reaching our goals together!!

2013 Goals

I have always loved New Years day, it's the one day out of the year where we get to sit down and write our own story for the year. I've said it before and I'll say it again 2013 is going to be a great year for me and I'm looking forward to seeing it all unfold like a beautiful love story.

In 2013, I'm turning 31 (yes I publicly shared my age...and I'm proud of it) and I'm excited...another year older and absolutely another year wiser.  I enjoyed my twenties but I'm living and loving intensely and fiercely in my 30's and couldn't be happier about my daily victories, but I need a little something to keep me on track..I need a goals list! Thumbing through my facebook feed I saw the lovely Ruthie Eileen Photography's blog about goals and thought if she was brave enough to post her goals then I could too (Thanks Ruthie for the gentle nudge).

2013 GOALS:

1. Ask - Believe - Receive
I tend to have this problem with saying or asking for exactly what I want (both in my personal life and in my career). This year I'm going to ask for what I want, believe that the blessing is mine, and receive my blessing.

2.Book 15 events in 2013

3. G-H-W x 3
Gym, Hair, Water. In 2013 I'm going to rev up my daily dosage of all of these things so that I can physically be the best that I can be.

4. Take BIG RISKS
2013 is going to be year that I take the biggest leaps of my professional career, I know that God has so many plans in store for me and I need to get out of my own way so that he can do his work.

5. Give
This year I just want to give more of myself, to my savior and more to my community.

6. Sign up for a BYE class & Become a better blogger!
Last year I had this dream that I could really take this blog and run with it but blogging is hard work and I could learn a lot from professionals about blogging about how to increase my audience and find my voice.

7. Professionally Rebrand MME
In 2012 I started the process of rebranding MME with a company called Makewell, in 2013 I can't wait   to share with you the beauty of this process and the end result.

8. Take up a new Hobby
This Christmas the beau gave me a shiny new camera, Cannon Rebel T3i (squeak!) It's gorgeous, but I'm going to need some serious help learning the ins and outs of how to actually use it.

9. Set business hours for MME
This year I've learned just how important it is for me to have a better home and work life balance, this all goes back to my NYE post about cherishing me a little more this year.

10. Don't stress about the small things, Keep Calm and Trust God.

What are your 2013 goals? Feel free to share!
